NYC Dispensary Announces Medical Marijuana Delivery Service

New Yorkers who require cannabis for medical purposes will be soon able to get marijuana delivered right to their door.

Vireo Health of New York, a company licensed to cultivate medical cannabis in New York, last week announced that the state authorities had given it permission to deliver products containing marijuana to New York’s medical cannabis patients.

Vireo will provide home delivery to patients living in NYC, Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, as hundreds of seriously ill MMJ patients often face some difficulties with leaving their homes.

New York’s cannabis industry is growing at a steady rate. The MMJ program allowed B2B transactions between state-sanctioned dispensaries and licensed cultivators and made it possible for patients to legally consume cannabinoid-based products in New York hospitals.

According to the New York State website, patients who suffer from a life-threatening or debilitating condition that is accompanied by a complicating or associated condition may qualify for the state’s medical cannabis program.

These conditions include:

  • HIV or AIDS
  • Cancer
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Epilepsy
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Spinal cord injury with spasticity
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Neuropathy

The complicating or associated conditions are:

  • Severe or chronic pain
  • Seizures
  • Cachexia or wasting syndrome
  • Severe or persistent muscle spasms
  • Severe nausea

NYC patients are allowed to consume medical cannabis via vaporizers, capsules, and tinctures. All other forms of marijuana consumption remain illegal.

Although New York’s policy on cannabis is far from ideal, it demonstrates a significant progress, improving people’s quality of life and making MMJ more available to those who need it.
