New Study Shows Cannabis-Infused Tea Is Effective in Treating Chronic Pain

Cannabis is known for its healing properties when it comes to treating numerous conditions and ailments. More evidence to the herb's effectiveness has been recently published in the Journal of Pain Research.

According to the new study, using marijuana orally is a safe and effective way of dealing with a number of chronic pain conditions.

A group of researchers from Italy performed a retrospective case series analysis on using cannabinoids for intractable pain in more than 600 patients. Most of the participants of the research were over the age of 60 and consumed weed via cannabis-infused tea.

According to the study, none of the patients complained about side effects. Moreover, just a few subjects discontinued the marijuana treatment. Therefore, the researchers concluded that cannabis therapy was effective for the majority of patients.

In 2015, Italy legalized using marijuana for a number of debilitating conditions, including multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, chronic pain, HIV/AIDS, Tourette syndrome, and several kinds of epilepsy.

In January, a review created by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences admitted that “conclusive or substantial evidence” existed for marijuana's efficacy for patients who had been diagnosed with chronic pain.
